Garena recently announced that legendary footballer (soccer for those in the USA) Cristiano Ronaldo is the latest battle royale ambassador. Since he wears the number 7 and his initials “CR,” his name is often abbreviated as CR7 — which you’ll spot in ad materials for Free Fire now as well as shorthand.
Ronaldo is often regarded as the best player in the world and is easily considered among the very best of all-time with seven league titles, holds the record for most goals in the history of the UEFA Champions League, and more. He played with Real Madrid from 2009-2018 but has been with Juventus ever since.
As a Free Fire ambassador, that means means he’s not only going to be featured in marketing materials, like ads and commercials, but also that he’s getting his very own character inspired by his likeness inside the game itself.
Ronaldo’s character, Chrono, is set to release globally very soon with the ongoing Operation Chrono event that involves new daily missions and themed missions. The event kicked off with the OB25 update this month and you can track what’s coming next throughout this month at the official Operation Chrono website.
You might recall other ambassador partnerships for Free Fire in the past as well, such as globally renowned DJ, Alok. Given the ubiquity of Ronaldo as an athlete and continued popularity of Free Fire as a game, it’s a great match up. Hopefully future Free Fire ambassadors can be on similar levels of international fame to help bring in even more fans.
